Christmas market return to Dublin Castle

The Dublin Castle Christmas Markets returned on the 28th of November and runs until the 18th of December.

A distinct boutique outdoor Christmas market with a large selection of festive goods is part of this year’s market.

There is also an indoor craft market running Friday to Sunday on the two remaining weekends of December.

Entry is free and it runs every day from 12 noon to 9pm.

The markets saw just over 215,000 people pass through last year and is expected to see similar numbers this festive period.

The markets are organised by The Office of Public Works in partnership with Dublin City Council.

Aisling O’Brien (23) from Dublin told The Liberty she enjoyed her experience.

“It was really well run. The beer tent and the live music was really enjoyable. The mulled wine and the general selection of drinks were really festive,” she said.

“I thought the Irish crafts stalls were really unique and added an Irish twist to the markets,” she added.

However she was not fully satisfied with the selection of food available.

“I would have liked a larger selection of food stalls. It was mainly just chips and chicken tenders so a more diverse range would’ve been nice,” she said.

“Ultimately I had a great time and I’d recommend it to anyone – especially in the evening time when all the lights are on.”
