Supporters of Bohemians Football Club are set to show their support for Focus Ireland’s Shine A Light Campaign by sleeping out at their home stadium, Dalymount Park, on October 12th.
The sleep-out is set to happen following the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division fixture between Bohs and DLR Waves on October 12th.
Dalymount Park will keep its doors open all night, as people are welcome to come and sleep out at the stadium.
The sleep-out will start from 8pm and there will be QR codes put up all over the stadium for people to donate towards the campaign.
Shane Butler, a volunteer at the club is the person behind the organisation of the sleep-out at the club.
“It is the third year now, we are doing the sleep out to support and raise awareness of the issue of homelessness,” Butler said.
“The stadium is open all night, anybody is welcome to join us and the homeless can come and sit in the warmth and have a cuppa and a chat,” he added.
“Donations are greatly appreciated and we are just trying to raise as much as we can here at Bohs to show our continuous support towards Focus Ireland and tackling homelessness.”
Over 14,000 people in Ireland are without a home, amongst that number lays 4,000 children without a roof over their heads.
‘The Shine A Light Campaign’ is happening on October 11th, where people across the country will sleep out to show support against homelessness.
Focus Ireland are inviting others to take the same approach as Bohs by sleeping out to highlight the issue of homelessness in the country.
“I urge businesses, schools and people across Ireland to show their support and help us shine a light on October 11th to the most glaring issue in our country today,” said Pat Dennigan, Focus Ireland CEO.
People are able to donate whatever they wish to Focus Ireland. All donations will go to providing families and others without a home with the bare necessities such as hot meals, clothes and overall support towards getting them a roof over their heads.
