Liberties Gate – a review of the restaurant in the Hyatt Centric

The Liberties Gate Bar & Restaurant is located on Dean Street near Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in the Liberties. Open Monday to Friday from 7am to 10.30 pm and from 11:00 am on Saturday and Sunday, it’s attached to the Hyatt Centric Hotel.

The exterior of the restaurant is nice, and the inside quite beautiful. I was given a menu and was asked if I wanted water. The menu was very broad and catered to a wide range of tastes, including vegan and gluten-free options, with a full allergen list included.

I decided to go for the Liberty Gate Beef Burger, at €19.95 with a side of thick-cut chips. The food came in good time and was very well presented.

The burger was well cooked all the way through, and the bacon was nice and crispy. The relish was not too overpowering and the crunch from the lettuce and tomato were lovely. The chips had a crispy bite to them.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was very calming. I was pleased with the service and quality of food. I decided to order dessert. The cheesecake of the day was a New York style baked lemon cheesecake.

It was very nice and not too filling. I thought the lemon was subtle, maybe a little too much so. The base of the cheesecake was very soft and melted in the mouth nicely. The presentation was very good and the berry drizzle, fresh cream and the berries were a nice touch.

After the meal I spoke to the on-site manager and she said she and her staff have passion for the place. She said the restaurant is “warm, welcoming and local – a lot of our staff live locally and that gives us a great sense of community.”

The restaurant is well laid out and very clean. There are disability-accessible bathrooms, and the bar is aesthetically pleasing. The service and overall experience was very good. The price of the food matched the quality of food and service. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend it for lunch.
