The support is set to total €1.25 billion.

The payment will be made to people with disabilities, pensioners, career’s, and lone parents in April of 2023.

In addition to this there will also be a €100 bonus payment for every parent with a child on the child benefit scheme.

To further support families during this economic crisis, another €100 payment will be provided as an extra support for the back-to-school clothing allowance.

The Taoiseach commented on the need for the payment: “This package is about helping families who are struggling with thee cost of living and helping those on fixed incomes.”

Originally only €150 was proposed for the social welfare rates. Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys subsequently argued that the amount should be expanded to €200, which was agreed.

In order to receive this payment, there are a number of requirements that must be met.

There is no confirmation yet whether or not extra payments will continue past April.
