Fourth year Fine Art students from TU Dublin have been holding a bake sale on the campus in order to help fund their final-year exhibition – and there are several more of them coming.
The area in the East Quad building where the sales are held is open to the public.
Ellen Kane, the class representative, explained: “ It’s going to be our ‘grad show’, where we display the work that we made over the past year and ultimately the result of our four years of study. The exhibition is also our final assessment and is worth 75% of our overall grade for the course.”
Plans are being finalised for an early-June public exhibition that will feature work from a number of the university’s creative courses at the same time.
“We didn’t expect that many people would come!”

They have raised €200 so far and their goal is to make around €1,600. The college asks for €100 from each of the Fine Art students toward the staging of the exhibition, Kane said.
They have upcoming bake sales on March 10th and 24th, and April 7th and 14th. They will be held on the ground floor of the East Quad building from 12-2pm.
Kristine Lorraine, a Fine Art student, said the turnout was amazing and “better than expected and that we didn’t expect that many people would come”.
If you live close to the Grangegorman area, pop into TU Dublin to help support the students and enjoy some lovely treats.
