Must watch list for the family this Halloween

Halloween is a little different this year – but that doesn’t mean you can’t get into the spooky spirit! If you are looking for a chilling throwback to keep you on the edge of your seat, our list has the best mix for all the family. 

1-   Hocus Pocus (1993) 

Sometimes, nothing beats a classic. Hocus Pocus can bring all the family together with humour, witches, talking cats and naive kids messing with magic when Thackery Binx lights the black candle resurrecting the Sanderson sister witches who want to be young forever! 

2-   Hotel Transylvania (2012) 

Dracula isn’t the scary monster that you expect, in fact he runs his own hotel. The grumpy, controlling vampire wants one thing, to keep the human world away from his 118-year-old daughter Mavis. 

But when a human traveller Johnny enters the hotel everything slips out of Dracula’s control. If you want to delve more into Dracula’s world the sequel movies are on Netflix to enjoy at your own leisure. 

3-   The Nightmare before Christmas (1993) 

Another classic for our list mixed in with a bit of Christmas spirit. This is the story about how Jack Skellington, the King of Halloween stumbles into the town of Christmas and loves everything about it as both holidays are so different.  

In fact, Jack loves it so much that he wants to take Christmas over. A must watch! 

4-   The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008) 

When Jared and his family move into an old creepy house in the middle of the woods, the siblings discover there’s more than just birds and animals lurking around. You’ll be on the edge of your seat as the family investigates!  

5-   Corpse Bride (2005) 

Life is hard for the rich fish merchant’s son Victor when he’s forced into an arranged marriage with the beautiful but poor, Victoria. 

Being nervous and clumsy at his wedding dress rehearsal, he goes to the wood to practice his vows while accidentally placing a wedding ring on a dead bride’s finger. Chaos ensues.  

6-   The Addams Family (2019) 

The Addams family are just a typical American family with a strange twist. Wednesday Addams decides she wants to adventure down to the town below their house. What the Addams family discover is nothing they have ever experienced before- suburbia!  

This cartoon is great to watch with the family. 

7-   Monster house (2006) 

What would you do if your neighbour’s house was eating people? When DJ finds out his hunch about the house was right; he does everything he can to prove he is right with the help of his best friend Chowder and curious girl Jenny.
