A well known nightclub District 8 has relocated to Jam Park in Swords after its former home the Tivoli Theatre was demolished to make way for an aparthotel.
Despite changing location, the night club is keeping their Dublin 8 inspired name.
District 8 made its return on September 7th and is due to run 20 nights per year in the new venue.
The venue which can hold 500 more people than the previous one is expected to attract bigger artists.
Famous British DJ duo Sasha and John Digwee are booked for two gigs in November, one of which has already sold out.
“This is just the start for us and we will be announcing many more huge shows,” the organisers posted on their Facebook page.
“With music venues across the city closing, we are proud to have been given the opportunity to fight for Dublin’s nightlife and hopefully bring you a music venue which rivals those of Amsterdam, Berlin and London,” they added.
District 8’s five year run at the Tivoli came to an end at the end of last year. Another major electronic music venue, Hangar, had also shut its doors about six months earlier. Along with the announcement that the Bernard Shaw will be closing at the end of October.
The question is if there will be anything left of Dublin 8’s nightlife in years to come?
