Man charged with murder on Bridgefoot Street

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of David Douglas on Bridgefoot Street in 2016.

Gareth Brophy, of no fixed abode, appeared before Judge Dermot Simms at Dublin District Court yesterday morning. He is remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.

Mr Douglas, a father of one, was shot dead on 1st July 2016 in front of his daughter as part of the on-going Hutch and Kinahan feud.

Fredrick “Freddie” Thompson from Maryland, Dublin 8 was sentence to the mandatory life sentence in August for his involvement in the murder.

Arresting Detective Garda Liam Godfrey gave evidence at the short hearing, he told the court that Mr. Brophy was detained at Kevin Street Garda station following his arrest at the Barn House Pub in Dolphins Barn at 11.58pm on Sunday night.

Mr. Brophy made no comment at the hearing.
