A new and updated map of the Liberties has recently been released in association with Dublin City Council and Liberties Dublin highlighting the best attractions and things to do in the area. Some of the highlights in the area include John’s Lanes Church, the Guinness Storehouse, Dublinia and Teeling Whiskey Distillery.
The map shows two walking routes that take you around the Liberties and surrounding areas incorporating all the sites. The first route is being marketed as a design trail while the second one is an industrial heritage trail. The routes take you through all the famous streets of the Liberties including James’s Street, Thomas Street, Francis Street and Meath Street.
Along with the map, there is also a second page which gives you a brief history of some of the highlights of the area. The map goes from Heuston Station in the west to Christchurch Place in the East and Teeling Distillery in the South to the River Liffey in the North.
In total, 10,000 maps will be circulated to local businesses such as hotels, tourist offices and shops. The map is the work of John Rooney Illustrations and is certainly worth a look whether you are from the Liberties or just passing through.
