Bray wanderers sealed a significant opening day victory against St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park.
The Wicklow team won 2-1 with goals from debutants Gary McCabe and Anthony Flood, as Graham Kelly could only grab a consolation goal for the home side.
It was an ill-disciplined performance from Liam Buckley’s side who finished the game with nine men after Conor Keena and Darren Dennehy saw red following a bad tackle and the resulting bust-up.
Ex-Pats striker Flood’s goal came from the work of Dylan Connolly who has been tipped for big things this season. Gary McCabe would follow it up in the 65th minute by bending a shot into the bottom left corner.
Graham Kelly would open his account for the season, bundling the ball over the line with five minutes to go. More drama was to follow for the wrong reasons as the two Pats men were given their marching orders as the game came to a close.
Pats travel to Drogheda for their next game on March 3rd.
