Gardaí in Kevin Street have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of a Liberties’ man in a house on Cork Street on Sunday 6th November.
A neighbour found 60 year old Anthony ‘Tony’ Rodgers barely alive ‘“lying in pools of blood” in his home in the Robinsons’ Court apartment complex at around 2pm on Sunday afternoon and alerted the emergency services.
Mr Rodgers was later pronounced dead at St. James’ Hospital.
Local Liberties residents say that Mr Rodgers was wheelchair bound due to a medical disability.
Gardaí in Kevin Street are looking to speak to anybody who may have been in the Cork Street area on Sunday 6th November between 2pm and 3pm.
Superintendent Patrick McMenemin of Kevin Street Garda station also confirmed that the Gardaí are looking to speak to one individual in particular.
This individual was seen in the area wearing a light grey hoodie, a beige baseball cap, navy tracksuit bottoms and white runners.
Superintendent McMenemin say that the Gardaí are following several lines of enquiry and are seeking to speak to anyone who has any information on the case.
