Defending champions Dublin will take on Kerry in this year’s Allianz football league final.
There were no shock results in the semi-final stage of the league as the favourites in each bout came out on top.
Kerry started very well in their game against Roscommon and shot well ahead of their opponents. Roscommon put up a better fight in the latter stages of the game, however they left themselves too much to do and Kerry kept them at arm’s length.
Ultimately, the saying that “goals win games” held true with Kerry comfortable 10 point winners on the day with a final score of 3-15 to 0-14.
The later game of the day was expected to be a very tight affair between two of the strongest teams in the country. Dublin targeted the Donegal half-back line with the forwards and midfield working very hard to slow down attacks and force turnovers.
Dublin found it far easier to get out of defence and create scoring opportunities with Donegal looking frustrated. The game was effectively over when Bernard Brogan calmly slotted home from close range with Dublin easily seeing out the remainder of the game. Final score on the day was 1-20 to 0-13.
Dublin will now play Kerry in the league final and will be red hot favourites to make it a flawless campaign. The final will take place in Croke Park on April 24th.
