Christ Church Cathedral will be hosting their own events during St. Patrick’s weekend as part of the city’s overall celebrations.

The events begin on Saturday 15th March and go on until St. Patrick’s Day the following Monday. The Discovery Gospel Choir will perform on the 15th in the Cathedral. The group are celebrating their 10th year in existence this year, and for the concert, they will be joined on stage by Congolese guitarist, Niwel Tsumbu and the Drøbak Gospel Choir from Norway.

Tickets on the night will be €12 with concession tickets available for €10. Doors open at 19:30 with the concert is scheduled to start at 20:00.

Céilí dancing group, Cairde Rince Céilí na hÉireann, are returning to the cathedral again this year and they will host the ‘Céilí in the Crypt’ in the Crypt Café on both the 15th and St. Patrick’s Day.

This is a workshop where people can learn the basics of Céilí dancing. The cost of entry is the usual cost of admission but bookings must be made in advance.

On both the 15th and 17th, there will be arts and crafts workshops held for children in the cathedral. Like the Céilí, the cost of entry is just the usual price of admission and there is no need to book in advance for the workshop.

There will be an outdoor market on both the 15th and 17th outside the cathedral. This market will sell various types of food and is a popular part of the festival. There is no entry fee for the market.

There will be tours of the cathedral taking place over the three days. Two tours on Saturday; one at 11:30 and the other at 13:15. There will be one tour on Sunday at 13:30 and two more on Monday at 11:30 and 14:00.
