Sarah Lavelle and Laura Meehan bring you Dublin’s best bargain gifts this holiday season
It’s that time of year again. Everyone is looking forward to Christmas, but at the back of your mind, there is that worry about how much it’s all going to cost. This year, we’re here to help you enjoy the celebrations without worrying too much about being left with empty pockets. We have scoured Dublin city in our search for this years bargains and here are some ideas we came up with.
Walking down Francis Street, we stopped in Molloy’s off licence where we discovered a great selection of Christmas hampers. Ranging from €33-€89, there is a hamper here for any budget. Each package contains a selection of wine and Butler’s chocolate, with the more expensive options also having Jameson whiskey and Christmas pudding. Each hamper is beautifully presented and would make a great gift this year.
Dublin has so much to offer in the coming months with shows in the Gaiety Theatre, the Tivoli Theatre and Vicar Street, so why not surprise that special someone with a ticket to a performance they would love?
The Gaiety hosts Cinderella from 2nd of December to 13th January, with tickets ranging from €25-€35. Tickets are available online at ticketmaster.ie or at all Ticketmaster branches throughout the country.
The Tivoli Theatre is showing something a little different, with Alan Hughes starring in Snow White and the Adventures Of Sammy Sausages. Vicar Street has a lot on this season, take a look at vicarstreet.ie for information on your favourite comedians and music artists.
Our favourite high street shops are Boots and HMV, which offer a huge range of gifts at great prices. There are always savings to be made in Boots with their 3 for 2 on selected items offer. It’s especially good for girls, with perfume, beauty products and bath essentials all included in the offer. There are also great gifts and gadgets available for men.
Boasting a huge range of movies, music and books, HMV has a present for everyone. There are also great stocking fillers like calendars and posters. Check out a store near you for offers such as three DVDs for €12.
Once again, Argos is the store that has everything you need this holiday season. With hundreds of gifts for kids priced below €40, it is set to be a favourite for parents again this year. Get your hands on a Christmas catalogue to plan your Christmas list or take a look in store, in Stephen’s green shopping centre.
If nothing we’ve mentioned suits you, why not think about dinner vouchers for a romantic night out, a relaxing spa treatment, or a visit to Carphone warehouse for any gadget you may be looking for. If you shop around there are savings to be found everywhere which will allow you to enjoy this festive time of year.
