Bookmakers Paddy Power has announced that they will make 610 new jobs available over the next two years in the Dublin area.

Bookmakers Paddy Power is to create 610 jobs at its headquarters in Dublin over the next two years.

The job openings, which are in e-commerce, technology, social media, quantitative research, risk management and online marketing are necessary in order to fulfil the growing needs of the company online.

A spokesperson for Paddy Power said four-fifths of the companies’ profits was generated online in 2011 and the company has recently expanded its market to Italy.  There are also talks in place about the Bookmakers opening an online market in the US.

Since April of this year the company has hired 189 employees as part of its expansion.  These new jobs will bring the total number of employees to Paddy Power in Ireland up to 2,783.

Speaking at the opening of the company’s new €10 million headquarters in Clonskeagh this morning, Taoiseach Enda Kenny praised the work of Paddy Power in responding to the changes in technology.

“Paddy Power’s announcement shows how Irish companies can embrace change and respond to new opportunities,” he said. “I commend the company on its commitment to Ireland and in particular its commitment to retaining and developing Irish graduates” said the Taoiseach.
