Homemade Hallowe’en delights

With Hallowe’en fast approaching, here’s a fun and tasty way to get into the spooky spirit.

Ingredients for Buns    

175g Self Raising Flour

125g Caster Sugar

125g Margarine

2 Eggs

2 Tbsps. cold Water

Ingredients for Chocolate Icing

500g icing sugar

80g cocoa powder

25g butter

To Decorate

1 Packet of Oreo Biscuits

Smarties

Large bar of white chocolate

Marshmallows

For Buns

1) Preheat the oven to 200°C or Gas 6.

2) Place bun papers in the bun tin

3) Mix flour, sugar, eggs, water and margarine in a bowl. Beat the ingredients together with a wooden spoon or electric mixer. Make sure the mixture is smooth with no big lumps.

4) Scoop heaped teaspoons of the mixture into the bun cases.

5) Place buns in the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes until the top of the buns are golden brown.

6) Cool the buns completely before icing.

Chocolate Icing

1) Sieve icing sugar and cocoa into a mixing bowl.

2) Add the softened butter into the mixture.

3) Add a tablespoon of hot water and mix all the ingredients until they form a smooth, glossy icing.

4) Spread icing evenly onto the buns.

Owl Decoration

5) Place two Oreos halves (filling side up) on the bun.

6) Add Smarties for eyes and beak

Mummy Decoration

1) Melt cheap white chocolate and drizzle gently across the buns.

2) Add Smarties for spooky eyes.

Skeleton Decoration

1) Melt cheap white chocolate into the shape of a skeleton.

2) Place a marshmallow at the top of bun and draw on a scary face with leftover chocolate icing.
