A fire which broke out just before 11am on February 3rd has badly damaged a solicitor’s office on Camden Street.
The fire broke out on the top floor of the three story business. Five people were evacuated from the building.
Six units of the fire brigade worked to put out the fire. It raged out onto the street from the top floor windows.
Emergency services say there were no injuries and damage appears to be restricted to the 3rd floor of the building.
“We watched as the building was engulfed by smoke, which turned into large flames in a matter of seconds. We immediately called the Guards who advised the Fire Brigade had already been dispatched.
“We watched on, as we saw the brave fire fighters fighting the fire from inside”, said Ian O’Keeffe who was working directly behind the solicitor’s office.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a gas cylinder explosion.
“We quickly jumped back when the explosion happened, but the fire brigade got the fire under control very quickly”, said Ian.
Gardaí at Kevin Street station are currently undertaking an ongoing investigating but the fire is not thought to be suspicious.
