A litter epidemic has hit the streets of the Liberties, tarnishing local landmarks and demeaning the natural beauty of the area.
There is a €150 fine in place for those who fail to dispose of their dog’s litter properly. However, it seems dog-owners are not adhering to this particular law, with Francis St and Meath St quickly becoming ‘dog litter blackspots’.
Passers-by Anna Byrne and Anne Moore from Drimnagh spend a lot of time in the area and are “shocked” by the amount of dog litter on the local streets. “We were only saying the other day how bad the problem is. It’s absolutely everywhere. The council should definitely be doing more to stop it.”
