NCAD Graduate to dress Gaga?

By Jenny McGovern

NCAD Fashion graduate Joanne Power is teetering on the verge of global recognition.  The young Irish designer has recently received critical acclaim for her MA graduate collection which debuted at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum Tuesday last.   However she may soon be showcasing her talent to the world as her collection has caught the eye of the newly crowned Queen of Pop- Lady Gaga.

The Lady who wore the controversial “meat dress”  (her dress, shoes and purse, were made from cuts of raw meat – much to PETA’s horror) to last year’s VMAs has gained some fashion sense and decided to dress herself for this years Grammys  in the traditional way- clothes made from material.

Ms Power has loaned Lady Gaga three pieces from her recent collection, including two crepe silk evening dresses.  The Irish designer now faces an anxious few days to see whether the songstress chooses to wear her designs at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony, which takes place this Sunday.

The prestigious Art and Design College is situated on Thomas Street and has a tradition of producing top class graduate students.
